To maintain a comfortable environment, an air handling system must control a building’s temperature, humidity and contaminants within a narrow range, while minimizing costs.
Innovent energy recovery systems are designed to recapture energy from air leaving the building and transfer it to fresh incoming air. Tempering incoming air through energy recovery enables the Innovent system to significantly improve air quality while minimizing costs and fuel consumption.
There are two main types:
Heat Wheel: In the winter, hot exhaust air is moved through a corrugated wheel, which recovers heat from both the latent (moisture) and sensible energy (air) sources. The wheel then rotates to the incoming air side and warms the cold incoming air as it passes through the wheel. In the summer, the process is reversed as cool exhaust air tempers the hot incoming air.
Flat Plate: Our original product, the flat plate heat exchanger provides effective energy recovery and transfer by routing opposing air streams past a metal plate. With no moving parts, the flat plate heat exchanger provides consistent, low maintenance energy recovery at lower cost. |
